Patent Law Changes Affecting Your Business
Mon, December 8, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Knobbe Martens Olson - 2nd Floor Conference Center, 2040 Main St - 2040 Main St - Irvine, CA 92614
Patent laws have undergone significant changes in the last few years; thus, what do all of these changes mean to entrepreneurs, business managers and engineers? A panel of successful business leaders will share their experiences about how to avoid common pitfalls, how to minimize costs, and how to use a well-executed intellectual property strategy to take command of new territory, defend existing products, and increase a company’s valuation. Topics also include the new first-inventor-to file system, what is still patentable in view of recent U.S. Supreme Court cases, how to get patents quickly, and how to use intellectual property to attract capital.

She currently represent clients in the pharmaceuticals, energy storage, material, nanotechnology, polymer, ultrasound catheter, and cardiovascular industries. Dr. Juang earned her doctorate degree from California Institute of Technology, where she focused her research on photoelectrochemistry at semiconductor/liquid and semiconductor/solid interfaces. She developed methods to protect silicon surfaces from oxidation by covalent attachment of polymer overlayers while maintaining its electrical property. Dr. Juang also investigated the air stability of modified silicon surfaces using x-ray photospectroscopy and photoconductivity decay measurements. Dr. Juang joined the firm in 2005 and became a partner in 2011.
