ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

Dr. Joseph E. Payne is Founder, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board for Arcturus Therapeutics, Inc. He brings with him an exceptional track record of ushering novel therapeutics to the clinic including successful experience developing sophisticated targeted RNAi nanoparticle technologies. Joseph’s background includes over 20 years of successful drug discovery experience at Merck Research Labs, DuPont Pharmaceuticals, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Kalypsys, and Nitto Denko as evidenced by over 40 publications and patents, and 7 investigational new drug (IND) clinical candidates. His academic training includes BYU (magna cum laude, Chemistry and Physics), University of Calgary (Synthetic Organic Chemistry), and MIT Sloan School of Management (Executive Training, Supply Chain and Logistics Strategy).

Dr. Helge Zieler founded Primordial Genetics in 2011 with the goal of building the premier company for genetic improvement of microbes. Helge is a biotechnology professional and entrepreneur with 14 years of industry experience in technology development, R&D project leadership and IP development/management in early-stage biotechnology companies. He has a passion for early-stage genetic technologies, and has helped launch the operations of multiple biotech startups including Akkadix, Chromatin, Synthetic Genomics, Agradis, Primordial Genetics and Industry3200. His background combines strong technical skills in molecular biology, genomics, plant and algal biotechnology and synthetic biology with entrepreneurism and R&D project leadership. Dr. Zieler received his Ph.D. degree in biochemistry from Stanford University in 1994 under the direction of Nobel Laureate Paul Berg.

Dr. Gallen Triana-Baltzer received his undergraduate training at University of California, Santa Barbara graduating in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology with honors in 2001. He then attended University of California, San Diego receiving his PhD in Biology in 2007, specializing in Developmental Neurobiology. Dr. Triana-Baltzer's industry experience includes Research Scientist (NexBio, Inc), Principal Scientist (CovX Research, a division of Pfizer) and most recently Principal Scientist at PHusis Therapeutics. He is responsible for PHusis' biological screening program and biomarker development for their drug discovery programs.
