The capital markets in 2015 are at all time highs. While there remains some venture "hangover" from the turmoil in 2008-2009, we are well into a bull market, and the prosperity in the IPO, strategic exit, and capital markets creates optimism for entrepreneurs looking to fund business opportunities in 2015.

In 2012, Lior Zoref made a now famous TED presentation where he demonstrated the wisdom of crowds. During the presentation, Zoref marched a full-grown ox onto the stage and asked the audience to guess its weight. The guesses ranged from 300 to 8,000 pounds, and the average was, interestingly, 1,792 pounds. When Zoref marched the animal onto a scale in the presentation hall, the animal weighed in, wait for it, 1,95 pounds. This was a somewhat sensationalistic, but effective demonstration of the wisdom of crowds.

On March 4, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, OCTANe, and Pricewaterhouse Coopers will attempt to apply this principal to predicting the capital markets in 2015. In combination with our panel of experts, we will recreate Zoref's crowd sourcing methodology by not only asking the panel for their predictions of the 2015 investment markets, but simultaneously polling and presenting the collective wisdom of the program participants.

We will start with a review of PwC's acclaimed Moneytree report to set the tone for our discussion. We will follow with a series of questions where we poll the audience for their opinions on various aspects of the innovation investment forecast, and subsequently discuss between the audience and our panel of experts.

This will be a truly unique, educational, and fun program. Last year's program sold out, so be sure to register early to secure your spot.

Speakers:

  • Glenn Bier - Partner, Pricewaterhouse Coopers
  • Derek Hoyt - Senior Technology Banker, Silicon Valley Bank
  • Marty Waters - Partner, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati
